The women’s tennis team opened the newly constructed Wheeler Tennis Courts with a 7-2 win over Nazareth College today. The Bombers extended their Empire 8 Conference winning streak to 57 dual matches.
The Blue and Gold pulled out two of three doubles matches to take an early lead over the Golden Flyers. Junior Allison Young and sophomore Becky Guzzo earned an 8-6 win, and the third doubles team of freshman Allison Vizgaitis and junior Laurel Salladay picked up an 8-2 win.
The South Hill squad clinched most of their points with singles wins by Vizgaitis, Salladay and senior captain Kelsey Harness.
The Bombers will face off against Stevens Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. with the Empire 8 Conference regular season title on the line.
