The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team defeated Oswego State Lakers 17–6 on March 8. With the win, the Bombers improved their record to 3–0.
The Blue and Gold started off the game by scoring six times in the first quarter. The South Hill Squad outscored the Lakers 9–3 in the first half. Defensively, the Bombers shut out the Lakers in the third quarter while the offense scored four more times. Oswego State scored three times in the final quarter, but the Bombers’ four goals in the period expanded their lead.
For the Bombers, senior attack Jack Shumway, junior midfielder Stephen Morrell, sophomore attack Will Witter, freshman midfielder Matt Montgomery, senior attack Sean Ferrito, sophomore attack Connor Hulme, junior midfielder Greg Drillock, sophomore midfielder Brendan King, sophomore midfielder Conner Crosson and freshman midfielder Kevin Enos all scored goals.
Witter and junior attack Jake Cotton led the team with two assists each. Shumway led the Bombers with 12 shots. Senior midfielder Grant Osadchey led with six ground balls, while junior defender Keith Morrissey also record five ground balls.
For Oswego State, freshman midfielder Tim Schof, junior midfielder Mark Niechcial, freshman attack Caleb Alford, junior midfielder Ryan Jelen and sophomore midfielder Jarrod Wilkom all scored goals.
Lakers’ junior attack Tyler Nason led the team with two assists. Alford led with five shots while Wilkom led the Lakers with five ground balls.
The Lakers only took 25 shots, as compared to the Bombers’ 49 attempted shots. The Lakers recorded 13 saves as compared to the Bombers’ 10. Both teams turned the ball over 22 times.
The Bombers return to action against Houghton College at 1 p.m. March 11 in Houghton, New York.
