The Ithaca College Office of the Provost announced the creation of a new Academic Support Center in an email to the campus community Aug. 6. The center will combine members of the deans’ offices who focus on student support with staff from the Center for Student Success. According to the email, combining the offices will create a centralized space for students to receive advising, tutoring and other academic support.
Melanie Stein, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, said via email that the ASC will be a replacement for the CSS.
“While the old name CSS will cease to exist, all of the people who made up the CSS will still be here, supporting students in the same way they were before, as staff in the new ASC,” Stein said via email.
The ASC leadership team consists of:Â

- Melodye MacAlpine, dean of Student Success and former associate dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications

- Associate Director Allison Davis, former associate director of CSS
- Dawn Kline, associate dean of Student Success and former associate dean of the School of Business
- Amy O’Dowd, associate dean of Student Success and former associate dean of student services in the School of Humanities and Sciences
The ASC includes Program Coordinator Jenna Caster and Academic Services Coordinators Katy Hall, Shannon Hills, Michelle Lang, Kristin Morse and James Riegel. The center also consists of Student Success Coaches Julian Fuentes, Quinten Hernandez ’21, Trisha Mukherjee ’23 and Jessica Santiago.
