Ithaca College and Longview Senior Living Community celebrated the 25th anniversary of partnership through educational opportunities for both students of the college and residents of the community.

The Gerontology Institute at Ithaca College and Longview Senior Living Community have been participating in an ongoing partnership since 1999. A part of this 25-year partnership includes a speaker series that involves the college’s community volunteering their time to give presentations — ranging anywhere from traditional lectures to musical performances — to Longview residents. 

Jerry Mirskin, a retired Ithaca College professor, has been teaching the creative nonfiction writing workshop to the residents every Tuesday since March 15.

The Longview-Ithaca College Partnership is being reinstated in person for the 2021–22 academic year with new guidelines in order to ensure safety.

In 2019, Ithaca College celebrated its 20-year partnership with Longview, a senior living community located across the street from campus.

On Oct. 29, Ithaca College celebrated its 15-year partnership with Longview. The program helps bridge the gap between students and older generations.
