Paris Fashion Week ends tomorrow, bringing the whirl of fashion shows and designer collections to a close. While the fashions at NYFW were playful, the fashion at London Fashion Week were sedate and the looks at Milan were fiercely chic, the collections at Paris Fashion Week were beautifully ethereal and other-worldly. Alexander McQueen kept its macabre edge while showcasing fantastical, voluminous creations; I’m incredibly impressed with the way that Sarah Burton has kept the spirit of Lee McQueen alive, while bringing her own tenacious femininity to the brand.
Meanwhile, all-around, all-time favorite Karl Lagerfeld showed us the money with his fabulous but when are his collection ever not??? “Under the Sea” mermaid-esque collection. I love his witty rendition of the classic Chanel bouclé jacket with this look from Chanel SS12:
