Well, it’s about that time of year again. You know that time. It’s the time where the leaves start to change color and drop. It’s the time when people start wearing their fall coats and boats. It’s the time Ithaca starts getting unfortunate weather. And it’s the time where the global community bands together to create change. O, that last one you didn’t know about? Well, let me fill you in.So for the past few years, 350.org has been encouraging communities across the world to plan some kind of event on 10/10 to push global and local leaders to recognize that people are behind the push to live more sustainably. Last year, for example, the Ithaca College community came together under the direction of one of the envrionmental classes for the Global Day of Action, where everyone dressed in ghost costumes, marhced through campus to make others aware that the greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere were already getting out of hand. This year is similar.
Except, this year 350.org is calling it the Global Work Party. Events have been scheduled across the world, and that includes Ithaca. If you are looking to be involved, here are a list of the events already registered for Ithaca:
Dilmun Hill Work Party
Dryden Rd, Ithaca, NY
Sound & Music Swap at the Ithaca Sound Maze
Ithaca Sound Maze
Calkins Road, Ithaca, NY
Grow Solar Educational Work Party
Albany St, Ithaca, NY
Lighten Up Tompkins
And there is still time to put together your own event. Head to 350.org to find out how.
