The day hipsters have long been dreading is finally upon us. James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem has confirmed that the band will be closing out their career with a bang. Just mere hours ago, the band took to Facebook and announced a last hurrah at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on April 2nd:
“For just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours—playing stuff we’ve never played before.”
After the release of their latest album, This is Happening, Murphy told fans and the media that this would be the last album the band puts out. Nobody really believed him, but after headlining sets across the country and the world in 2010, it appears he and his bandmates will follow through with their decision.
Besides the 3-hour-long ravefest, Murphy also hints at special guests as well. Will Daft Punk be there for “Daft Punk is Playing at My House?” I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
