Nicki Minaj in talks for her own reality show

She’s taken over your iTunes, and now she’s headed for your TV.

It was announced this morning that Nicki Minaj is, theoretically, in talks for her own reality television series on E!. Based on the other celebrity-focused programming that E! features this is completely unsurprising.

Should this deal go through, Nicki Minaj would star in two reality shows — the first of which is the ratings giant “American Idol.” Minaj, along with new judges Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, will replace exiting judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. As “American Idol” faces ever-increasing competition from similar shows like “The Voice,” “The X Factor” and E!’s own “Opening Act,” the need for revitalizing the aging show is more prominent than ever.

But is E! a better fit for Minaj? The “Starships” singer is engaging enough to carry an entire series, but it might get lost in all of the celeb-reality shows that the network offers. Either way, Minaj’s personality is a great fit for television and it will be great to have her on the TV screen.
