At Ithaca College, film photography has been a part of the curriculum for decades. All photography classes at IC were taught in the darkroom before the transition to a combination of analog and digital photography courses in the 2010s. Although the college does not have a photography major, students have the opportunity to take photography classes as part of the Television, Photography, and Digital Media photography concentration or with a minor in Still Photography.

Theater Four at Cinemapolis, Ithaca’s independent movie theater, quickly ran out of space March 28 for a screening of the visual album “Modern Fables for Complicated Times.” The experimental project’s sold-out world premiere highlighted the work of director John Scott, associate professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies at Ithaca College, and documentary and production studies program director.
Many Ithaca College students decorate the walls of their dorm rooms with posters of their favorite bands. However, juniors Avery Larson and Dan Boush’s Garden Apartment is adorned with another music-related decoration: setlists from shows they have played and attended in Ithaca.

Ithaca College Television (ICTV) and Voice of Ithaca College (VIC) Radio’s studios share the same on-campus address in the Roy H. Park Hall basement, the same student media advisor, and even some of the same passionately driven students. Though they share the same resources, it was not until March 24 that the two organizations joined creative forces in one of the television studios to shoot “In The Stu,” a new monthly segment that will be featured on both ICTV and VIC’s YouTube channels.

Messy humanity was on full display Feb. 19, as tables in the Campus Center lobby filled with tissue paper, coloring pages and henna cones. Passersby stopped to participate in a gathering, part protest, part educational workshop and part block party. It was the first meeting of IC-GPT, a new club on campus using art and interpersonal interaction to oppose the use of generative artificial intelligence in the classroom.
FX’s “Love Story” is anything but a romantic tale of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr.'s relationship. It is a tragic biographical drama that thoughtfully tackles complex topics surrounding grief and identity across nine episodes.
As the semester approaches its final stretch, students in a variety of courses in the Roy H. Park School of Communications will begin to wrap production on their own films. The musical scoring of these projects has emerged as an unexpected opportunity for Ithaca College students of all majors to get involved with filmmaking.
The new thriller-comedy film “Forbidden Fruits” will not become a cult classic — yet. It is insanely camp and truly smart, but the bold genre-blending and all-encompassing reach leads to overwhelming storytelling that cannot resist piling on one more plot point or emblematic joke.
On a typical weekday, the Hill Center room 104 is defined by the sterile environment of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. The tiered lecture hall usually plays host to kinesiology midterms and anatomy lectures, its whiteboard covered in diagrams of the human muscular system.
