Director Emerald Fennell brings modern audiences back to late 18th-century Yorkshire moorland with her adaptation of Emily Brontë’s 1840s novel “Wuthering Heights.” Fennell’s take, which released in theaters Feb. 13, twists the narrative quite a bit and leaves the audience to decide if it is for better or worse.

“Dracula: A Love Tale,” directed by Luc Besson and based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, was originally released in France in July 2025, having its wide theatrical release in North America Feb. 6. While the film description claims to be a Gothic romantic fantasy, in actuality, it has no idea what it wants to be.
With the spring semester in full swing, students at Ithaca College are reconsidering their sleep schedules. Winter brings about a host of changes: new schedules, less sun and colder months keeping everyone inside. Sleep often changes as well.
Unknown Stage, a club unaffiliated with Ithaca College but made up of IC students that organize shows in Ithaca, is putting on a show every Friday night in the month of February. Though the organization hosts frequent shows each month, the February shows are all hosted at the Nocturnal Cafe, making this series of shows the first-ever Unknown Stage “Residency.”

The first four episodes of season 4 of Shondaland’s “Bridgerton” were released on Netflix Jan. 29, a year and a half after Season 3 of the show concluded.
The Super Bowl has the largest viewership of any televised event in the United States, with over 127 million people tuning in for the 2025 Super Bowl. However, not every viewer crowding around a coffee table of chips and boneless wings is watching for the big game. Advertising spots are precious for companies trying to reach the widest audience possible, leading to advertising campaigns going above and beyond to make their ad worth the price tag on the ad spot.

On Sept. 3, 2025, Kaouther Ben Hania’s “The Voice of Hind Rajab” premiered to great acclaim at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, where it received the prestigious Grand Jury Prize along with a 20-minute standing ovation. Since then, the film has slowly but surely gathered acclaim, with some publications claiming it to be “the most important film of the year,” before finally releasing to a limited selection of American theaters starting Dec. 17.
Musicians and filmmakers worked together to help bring sound into story in the form of music video submissions to the Ithaca Underground Music Festival.
At Ithaca College, a new club is bringing students together one sparkling sip at a time. The Dirty Soda Club invites IC students to relax and connect while trying interesting sweet drinks.
“No help is coming, this is how things are now,” says Linda Liddle (Rachel McAdams) in Sam Raimi’s new comedy thriller “Send Help,” released Jan. 30. After the private plane taking Linda and her insufferable boss Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien) on a trip for work crashes into the Pacific Ocean, the unlikely duo must survive long enough to be rescued while tensions grow between the two.

On Jan. 16, the free streaming app Tubi added another original young adult romantic comedy to its catalog with the release of “How to Lose a Popularity Contest.” Directed by Stephen S. Campanelli, this film delivered nothing but secondhand embarrassment for viewers.
Cory Brown, retired professor in the Department of Writing, said he remembers being struck at a young age by how fleeting everything seemed. In his upcoming, award-winning poetry book, “My Mother’s Hands,” Brown is investigating that feeling through memento mori.
