SGC reviews draft of Residential Hall Association handbook

The Ithaca College Student Governance Council planned for upcoming initiatives and received feedback from council members on in-progress initiatives at their meeting April 6. Council members discussed the Accessible Living Residential Learning Community proposal and a draft of the Residential Hall Association committee handbook.

Ithaca feels the rippling effects of Iran war

From rising gas prices to travel disruptions, members of the Ithaca community are feeling the ripple effects of the Iran war since the United States and Israel launched the first airstrike of the conflict Feb. 28.
A United States district judge granted in part and denied in part Ithaca College’s motion to dismiss the civil lawsuit filed by Brad Hougham, a professor in the Department of Music Performance. The Feb. 27 order dismissed the plaintiff’s Title IX deliberate indifference claim, while the plaintiff’s Title IX hostile environment and retaliation claim still remains.

A United States district judge granted in part and denied in part Ithaca College’s motion to dismiss the civil lawsuit filed by Brad Hougham, a professor in the Department of Music Performance. The Feb. 27 order dismissed the plaintiff’s Title IX deliberate indifference claim, while the plaintiff’s Title IX hostile environment and retaliation claim still remains.

Ithaca protesters demand ‘No Kings’ in third wave of nationwide anti-Trump rally

Hundreds of protestors came together on The Commons on March 28 to protest United States President Donald Trump and his administration as part of the nationwide “No Kings” rallies. Many in attendance held signs that called attention to issues in the Trump administration like the Iran war and the president’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein, while others protested rising gas prices and crackdown on immigration. 
Baruch Whitehead, a professor of music education in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, was presented with a New York State Senate Commendation award from Sen. Lea Webb’s office Feb. 19. Whitehead was honored for his work with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, a choir named after civil rights activist Dorothy Cotton.

Ithaca College professor awarded for combining music with social justice

Baruch Whitehead, a professor of music education in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, was presented with a New York State Senate Commendation award from Sen. Lea Webb’s office Feb. 19. The awards, given in honor of Black History Month, celebrated the work of five local community leaders from the Southern Tier. Whitehead was honored for his work with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, a choir named after civil rights activist Dorothy Cotton.
