The No. 22 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse suffered a grueling loss to non-conference rivals the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on April 15 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers could not keep up with the physicality of the Red Dragons, struggling to deliver the ball to the back of the net and win the one-on-one matchups.
The Ithaca College softball team stayed hot and went 3-1 in back-to-back doubleheaders April 11 and 12, with two wins over the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a split with Skidmore College. IC improved to 14-7 overall and now sits in second place in the Liberty League standings.
The Ithaca College volleyball team has been recognized for winning the Liberty League Championship Tournament four years in a row, but its positive impact extends off the court as well.
At Ithaca College, student-athletes follow the same guidelines pertaining to name, image and likeness (NIL) deals that any other NCAA athlete does. The difference between NIL at Dvision I and Division III schools, much like most differences between DI and DIII athletics, is that the student-athletes do most of the work themselves.

The common saying, “defense wins championships,” resonates heavily with the 2026 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team. The Bombers have leaned into the mantra for their defense, “system over matchup,” and it has paid off, earning the No. 22 spot in the national Division III rankings and the No. 12 spot in the USA Lacrosse Magazine for the week of April 12.
Coming off a tough 10-7 loss the previous day, the Ithaca College baseball team utilized premium pitching and power to take the three-game series over the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds with 5-3 and 8-4 victories April 11.
The Ithaca College women’s basketball team head coach Dan Raymond announced March 25 that he will retire at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. Raymond has been at the helm of the team since 2000.

The No. 22 Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team secured another nail-biting victory 11-10 against the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers for the first time since 2018 April 11 at Higgins Stadium. In the April 12 voting, the Bombers entered the national rankings, jumping 20 places from No. 42 previously.

The Ithaca College softball team experienced a handful of ups and downs April 8 in a doubleheader against the Nazareth University Golden Flyers. After a crushing 14-10 loss in game one, the Bombers rallied to steal the win 6-5 in game two. With the split, the Bombers moved to 11-6 on the season while the Golden Flyers moved to 10-8.

Typically, the Red Dragon that lives 22 miles east of Ithaca only gets widespread and national coverage in mid-November for the annual Cortaca Jug football game as the “biggest little game in the nation.” However, SUNY Cortland is seen as a rival in the eyes of the Bombers’ athletic programs all year round.
