The unranked Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team showed out in primetime to defeat the No.6 nationally ranked Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers 9-8 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers’ defense pumped the brakes on the Liberty League’s top offense to grab the first victory against the Tigers since 2016 and the second in 16 years.Â
The Ithaca College women’s lacrosse team secured its fourth and fifth Liberty League victories of the season April 3 and 4, defeating the Bard College Raptors 22-1 and Vassar College Brewers 18-6 at Higgins Stadium. After a season defined by narrow margins and overtime thrillers, the Bombers utilized dominant first-half offensive explosions to put the games out of reach early and provide reprieve for a squad accustomed to playing until the final whistle.
The Ithaca College baseball team was swept at the hands of the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers in a three-game series April 3-4, played in Rochester, New York and Auburn, New York. After a 13-3 blowout loss in game one, IC dropped a 12-11 thriller in game two, followed by a 10-8 loss in game three.
When senior catcher James Braxmeier reported to military basic training at 18 years old, he assumed his varsity baseball career was over. After four years of service and six years of not being a varsity athlete, he is now a collegiate-level baseball player.Â
At a current projected valuation of about $3.05 trillion for 2026, the sports industry is the eighth largest in the world and one of the biggest employers, with it supporting more than 5.6 million jobs globally. Beginning in Fall 2026, Ithaca College’s School of Business will offer a new sport industry minor to give students a deeper look into the business side of the sport world.

While club and varsity sports operate as independent units, participants are all athletes on one campus. As a Division III school, opportunities arise for club athletes to play on a bigger field, and vice versa. For senior lacrosse goalkeeper Nichole Allan, the chance did not come until her final semester at Ithaca College.Â
The Ithaca College baseball team grabbed two wins over the Clarkson University Golden Knights in a three-game series March 29 and 30. After scoring one run in the first game, the Bombers responded with 31 total runs over the next two games.

The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team upset the No. 15 St. Lawrence University Saints 14-5 March 28 at Higgins Stadium, ending a seven-year losing streak to the Liberty League rivals. The Bombers’ defense denied the Saints any fighting chance in the second half, allowing just a single goal.
The Ithaca College women’s basketball team head coach Dan Raymond will retire at the end of the 2025-26 academic year, Ithaca College athletics announced March 25, putting an end to a 26-season stretch as the head coach of the program.
Emma Waite, a graduate assistant coach for the Ithaca College women’s basketball team and former Bombers player, co-founded Bigger Than Sports with her brother, Ian Waite in July 2024.Â
The Ithaca College gymnastics and swimming and diving teams competed at their respective national championships March 18-21, with the swimming and diving team walking away without a national champion or first team All-American for the first time since the 2018-19 season.Â

Senior Grace Murray won a National Collegiate Gymnastics Association individual championship on the floor exercise with a score of 9.850 March 20 in Cortland. Murray closed out her career with a nearly flawless performance and became the first Bomber in seven years to win a first place title and the first on floor since 2011.Â
