Body found in Cayuga Inlet

A body was found in the Cayuga Inlet this morning at Allan H. Treman Marina State Park, according to Thomas Deis, a lieutenant at the Ithaca Fire Department.

The body has been identified as Brian Washington Jr., 25, of Ithaca, who was reported missing to police Jan. 30, according to an Ithaca Police Department press release issued Thursday.

Deis said the body was discovered by a coach from the Cornell University men’s crew. The Fire Department responded to a call at 8:51 a.m. and removed the body at 9:30 a.m.

Autopsy results released by the Ithaca Police Department on Friday unveiled drowning as the cause of death with no evidence of foul play involved. The release said the results of toxicology tests are pending and will not be available for at least two more weeks.
