Office of Civic Engagement names new executive director

Laurie Worrall, the executive director of New York Campus Compact, has been selected to replace Anthony Hopson as the new executive director for the Office of Civic Engagement beginning fall 2014.

Worrall will continue to consult with New York Campus Compact, a statewide association of colleges and universities with the goal of promoting active citizenship. She is responsible for overseeing two federally funded statewide programs as well as program development and anything that deals with membership.

Worrall is also on the International Association of Research on Service Learning and Civic Engagement board.

In her new position, it will be Worrall’s responsibility to work directly with faculty and staff members to develop and coordinate both curricular and cocurricular community partnerships and activities.

Hopson, who was also the associate vice president for community and government relations, departed Ithaca College in May.
