Possible shots fired in Collegetown

The Ithaca Police Department is investigating a reported second degree assault that occurred within the 100 block of Oak Avenue in Collegetown early Tuesday morning.

Tompkins County 911 received a call of possible shots fired in the area of Oak Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. The caller reported that a dark-colored sedan had left the area. IPD and Cornell University Police responded, but after a search found nothing at that time.

Bangs Ambulance and IPD responded to Hancock Street for a subject with a gunshot wound to the buttocks at about 2:18 a.m. During a preliminary interview, the victim said the shot occurred at the time of the shots fired call near a vehicle within the 100 block of Oak Avenue.

The investigation is ongoing. At this time the victim is not providing any further details about the incident or the perpetrator.
