Vehicle hits student in hit-and-run

Ithaca College sophomore Aadesh Agarwal was injured in a hit-and-run incident while crossing the Coddington and Danby Road intersection at 10:38 p.m. Saturday.

Agarwal was taken to Cayuga Medical Center, Investigator Tom Dunn said.

Sgt. Stephen Long of the New York State Police Department said the victim described the car as a black Ford, while witnesses described the car as a dark red Mitsubishi Eclipse. Several witnesses who were walking on Danby Road following the Cortaca Jug football game said the car was heading south. When the driver turned left onto Coddington Road, the car hit Agarwal at the crossing.

The County Sheriff’s Department was the first to respond to the 911 call, Long said.

Long said the incident is still under investigation and could not elaborate on the details of the search. He said the State is working with the numerous witnesses to the event.
