As the 2024-25 academic year comes to a close, the student-athletes of Ithaca College find themselves amid another season of spring sports. For several Bombers teams, they have looked toward first-year players for immediate contributions and their faith in recent recruits has been rewarded.Â

From 2020-23 the backstop at Freeman Field was primarily protected by the prowess of catcher Gil Merod ’23. Now, the Bombers have leveraged a four catcher rotation to try and replace Merod, creating a competitive bond that has pushed the team throughout the season.

The Ithaca College softball team faced a rollercoaster of emotions April 4 in a doubleheader against the Union College Garnet Chargers. The Bombers entered the matchup with a 22-1 all-time record against the Garnet Chargers, with their last loss being in 2003. They defended their record with a 10-0, five-inning win in game one, but fell 2-1 to the Garnet Chargers in game two.

The Ithaca College baseball team experienced a tale of two extremes in its doubleheader against the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers on April 4. The Bombers went down to the wire, walking off game one 5-4 and getting walked off 2-1 in game two.Â
