Free throws fuel St. John Fisher’s 73-67 win over women’s basketball

The St. John Fisher University Cardinals’ relentless march to the free-throw line proved to be the dagger for the Ithaca College women’s basketball team, as the Cardinals cashed in on 79% of their 34 attempts to secure a hard-fought 73-67 victory.

It was truly a great day to be a Bomber as the No. 22 Ithaca College volleyball team on Nov. 16 dismantled the William Smith Herons for their third straight Liberty League title in three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-15.
Dr. Ellen J. Staurowsky is a sports media professor at Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications. Staurowsky has dedicated much of her career to leveling the playing field for women in sports.

The No. 22 Ithaca College volleyball team delivered a masterclass in the Liberty League Championship semifinals Nov. 15, steamrolling the RIT Tigers in three decisive sets — 25-10, 25-21, 25-16 — to keep their championship hopes alive.

As Mark Twain once said, “It’s not about the size of the dog in the fight. It’s about the size of the fight in the dog.” That was the theme Nov. 13 as an undersized yet scrappy Ithaca College men’s basketball squad defended the Ben Light Gymnasium in their home opener against its rival, the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons.

It was a fierce battle on opening night, but the Ithaca College women’s basketball team came up just short against the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Nov. 14, dropping the match  65-60.

Football seeks revenge in 65th annual Cortaca Jug game

The Ithaca College football team will participate in the 65th edition of the Cortaca Jug, traveling to bitter rival and defending 2023 national champion Cortland State Nov. 16.
On July 29, the college’s athletics department announced the addition of women’s wrestling to the varsity sport agenda. The team will begin competition in the 2025–26 season and will mark the 14th women’s sport offered on campus.
