Football returns to winning ways over Rochester

The Ithaca College football team shook off a string of offensive woes from the first few games to overwhelm the undefeated University of Rochester in a 24-0 victory on Oct.12 for their first home victory.

In a far more competitive match than expected, it took the No. 20 Ithaca College volleyball team four sets to beat the Vassar College Brewers on Oct. 12, winning 25-11, 25-13, 22-25 and 25-15 at Ben Light Gymnasium.

It was business as usual for the No. 20 Ithaca College volleyball team on Oct. 11, as they swept the Union College Garnet Chargers 25-14, 25-17 and 25-18 at Ben Light Gymnasium.

After 90 minutes of constant action, the Ithaca College men’s soccer team recovered from a three-game scoring drought with a 2-0 win over the Clarkson University Golden Knights. Consistent with most games this season, the Bombers clocked 22 shots, four more than last game.

After taking 18 shots — five on target — the Ithaca College men’s soccer team wasn’t able to score a victory over the Misericordia University Cougars on Oct. 9, ending the game at 0-0. The Bombers defense remained dominant as they held the Cougars to only 10 shots.

It’s the number of times a team can touch the ball during a rally, the number of sets needed to win a match and, if the sophomores of the Ithaca College volleyball team are anything to go by, the ideal number of players for a recruiting class.

The Ithaca College women’s soccer team won a hard-fought game on Carp Wood Field Oct. 5. The crowd exploded for senior midfielder Julia Cascone’s Olimpico goal, breaking an 87-minute drought, and the expected tie.
