Bombers win three events at Dick Shea Intivational

After last week’s Ithaca Invitational, the men’s track team went on the road to compete at Army’s Dick Shea Invitational.

Ithaca won three events at the meet: the 400-meter relay, the long jump and the 400-meter run.

In the 400-meter relay, sophomore Doug Koury, junior Jeff Wetmore, junior Max Orenstein and freshman Chris Mastrosimone combined for a time of 42.74. With that time, the group also qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships.

Koury also won the 400-meter run with a time of 50.59.

Sophomore Eric Ambrosino won the long jump with a distance of 6.45 meters, beating the second-place finisher by .12 meters.

Orenstein finished second in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 11.40 and 22.09. Orenstein’s time in the 200-meter dash qualified him for the ECAC championship.

The Bombers also had a member qualify for the ECAC championship in the high jump. Junior Kramer Jakubek cleared 1.94 meters to place second in the event. Following up close behind him was fellow Bomber, junior Chris Stahlmann, who finished third with a height of 1.89 in the high jump.

The Bombers’ next meet is at the Doug Pollard Invitational at Moravian College next weekend.
