Gymnastics team places fourth at Cornell Invitational

The Ithaca College women’s gymnastics team achieved its second-highest score of the season at the Cornell Invitational on Feb. 14. The Bombers finished with a total of 185.900 points, putting them in fourth place behind the United States Air Force Academy, Cornell University and SUNY Brockport.

The Bombers scored a season-best of 45.550 on the uneven bars as well as their second highest scores this season on both the floor, with 47.350, and the balance beam, with 46.175.

Senior Megan Harrington had season-best performances on both the vault and the uneven bars, where she placed eighth and tied for fifth, respectively.  

Sophomores Kaylee Pacunas and Melissa Hollrigl also had outstanding performances on the vault. Pacunas tied for ninth place, while Hollrigl tied for 11th.

On the floor, freshman Carolyn Nichols tied her personal best score of a 9.625, tying for 12th. She was followed by Harrington with a 9.550 in 16th place, along with sophomore Eleanor Almeida who tied for 17th with a 9.475.

Another season-best was scored by junior Lynley Choate on the balance beam, which left her in 12th place. Sophomore Kendra Balcerak tied for ninth place for the event and freshman Nina Bustamante Nadeau placed 14th.

The Bombers next meet will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at Rhode Island College.
