Men’s lacrosse: Blue and Gold drop third straight

The men’s lacrosse team, 5–4 overall this season, dropped its third straight game today, 9–11 to Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Bombers jumped out to a 2–0 lead off of goals from sophomore forward Andrew Bruce and junior captain Tom Mongelli. Mongelli netted a career-high five goals in the loss, bringing his season total to 21. Two of Mongelli’s goals came in the third period, which tied the game at 7–7.

The Tigers responded with two goals of their from juniors A.J. Tingle and Jordan Collins-Hartwig. RIT maintained the lead for the rest of the game.

Freshman midfielder Jake Long recorded his first two-goal game while sophomore attack Andrew Bruce and junior attack Devin Weinshank each added a goal as well. Senior goaltender David Gal made 17 saves in the loss, including 10 saves in the first period.

The South Hill squad returns to action at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 14 against Utica College.
