Men’s Swimming and Diving: Blue and Gold beat two teams at quad meet

The men’s swimming and diving team faced off against Hamilton College, SUNY-Geneseo and Hartwick College yesterday at the Athletics and Events Center Pool, falling only to the latter.

The Bombers convincingly defeated Hamilton and Geneseo by scores of 233-60 and 191-108 respectively. The team’s 165-133 loss to Hartwick was the first of its season.

Senior Jeff Rapp won the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes in times of 53.34 seconds and 1:58.15 respectively. Rapp was also part of the Blue and Gold’s 200-yard medley relay team along with sophomore Connor White, freshman Logan Metzger and junior Jake Robbins. The group of four won in a time of 1:36.33.

Senior captain Derek Rand won the 1-meter dive, scoring 249.45 points.

The South Hill squad also won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a team composed of Robbins, Metzger, sophomore John Carr and junior Chris Cadwell. They finished the race in a time of 3:14.51.

The Bombers will host the inaugural Ithaca Bomber Invitational on Dec. 2 at the Athletics and Events Center Pool.
