Men’s Swimming and Diving: Squad takes first place at Henry Kumpf Invitational

The men’s swimming and diving team returned to the pool for the first time in more than a month yesterday, dominating the eight-team field at the Henry Kumpf Invitational at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The field included Clarkson University, SUNY-Cobleskill, SUNY-Cortland, SUNY-Oneonta, Skidmore College, and Vassar College.

The Bombers amassed a total of 676 points, winning eight out of 13 events. RPI came the closest to Ithaca, posting a score of 495 points.

The 400-yard medley relay team, consisting of sophomore Connor White, junior Jake Lichter, senior Jeff Rapp and junior Jake Robbins, finished first in a time of 3:35.26. Sophomore John Carr, senior Antoine Connors, junior Chris Cadwell and Robbins won the 400-yard freestyle.

Freshman Clement Towner won two events, the 1000- and 500-yard freestyle.

Other winners included Carr in the 200-yard freestyle, Rapp in the 200-yard individual medley, Lichter in the 200-yard breaststroke and sophomore Taylor Van Cott in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Blue and Gold will compete in a dual-meet Saturday at the University of Rochester.
