Men’s Swimming and Diving: Strong diving performance leads Bombers to win against University of Rochester

The men’s swimming and diving team came out with a 190–110 road victory against the University of Rochester yesterday to improve its overall record to 14–1.

The Bombers went on to win a total of 12 events on the day. Senior Derek Rand led the way, scoring a pool record 317.17 points in the 3-meter dive and 296.40 points to win the 1-meter dive. Rand fell one point shy of breaking the 28-year-old school record on the 3-meter board set by Dick Comanzo ’84.

Junior Jake Lichter won two individual events while also swimming on the 200-yard medley relay team. The other three members of the relay team also won individual events — as senior Jeff Rapp won the 200-yard individual medley, senior Antoine Connors took first place in the 50-yard freestyle and sophomore Connor White won the 100-yard backstroke.

Freshman Clement Towner won both distance freestyle events, while sophomore Jon Carr placed first in the 100-yard freestyle and swam on the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay team.

The Blue and Gold will compete against Alfred University at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Athletics and Events Center Pool.
