Men’s Tennis: Squad shut out by New York University

The Ithaca men’s tennis team (4—7 overall, 3—1 Empire 8) lost 9-0 in a dual match this afternoon against the New York University Violets at the Reis Tennis Center on  the campus of Cornell. The whole match was played indoors due to rain throughout the day. The Violets are ranked 15th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

In first singles, sophomore Steven Wu of NYU defeated senior captain Jimmy Newton 6-2 6-1. Sophomore David Andersen lost to sophomore Tim Wu of the Violets 6-3 7-5 in third singles. Senior captain Dan Levine lost to freshman William Smithline of NYU 6-2 6-1 in fifth singles.

The Bombers return to action against Elmira at 4 p.m. Wednesday on the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
