Men’s Tennis: Team picks up road win in season-opener

The men’s tennis team rallied for a 5-4 dual-match victory against St. Lawrence University yesterday afternoon at the Newell Field House in Canton, N.Y.

The Bombers trailed 2-1 after doubles matches fell behind 4-2 during singles matches, before winning the final three contests on court and getting the team’s first dual-match victory of the spring season.

The South Hill squad’s comeback started at second singles, where sophomore Griffin Reid rallied after dropping the first set of his match to win the second set 6-4 and 6-1 in the decisive third set.

Sophomore David Anderson picked up a win at fourth singles with another rally by fighting off three match points from Saints junior Tom Timpone.

Freshman Justin Levine registered the clinching point in the Blue and Gold’s overall victory, defeating St. Lawrence freshman Sam Mullin.

The Bombers return to action March 13 on their spring break training trip when they face Connecticut College in Hilton Head, S.C.
