Men’s track qualifies five for ECACs

The men’s track team was on the road this weekend at Moravian College’s Coach P Open.

The Bombers had 12 top-five finishes in the meet and also added another five Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship qualifying finishes.

Senior Sean Brown won the pole vault with a height of 4.55 meters, beating the second place finisher by .15 meters. With that height, Brown qualified for the ECAC Championship later this spring.

Junior Max Orenstein placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.03 and came in third place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.62. Orenstein qualified for the ECAC Championship in both events.

Senior Scott Walker placed second in the 1,500-meter run at 4:04.09. Junior Chris Stahlmann also placed second in his event, the high jump, with a height of 1.90 meters. Sophomore Dan Moloney recorded a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.62.

Orenstein, Wetmore, senior Jon Lin, and sophomore Doug Koury placed third in the 400-meter relay with a time of 43.74, a time that qualified the group for the ECAC Championship.

Returning from injury and competing for the first time since January, junior Kyle Devins placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.60 meters.

The Bombers next meet is next weekend at Rochester Institute of Technology for the Empire 8 Championships.
