Led by senior outside hitter Jessica Hoeffner’s career-high 27 kills, the volleyball team defeated SUNY-Oneonta in five sets to extend its match winning streak to eight.

The match was back and forth from the beginning, with the Blue and Gold falling behind early. Oneonta used a 7-2 run to take the first set 25-18. The South Hill squad responded to take the second set 25-19, then the Red Dragons again took the overall lead, winning the third set 25-19.

Down 16-15 in the fourth set, the Bombers went on a 10-2 run to take the set 25-18. The team kept its momentum rolling in the decisive set and cruised to a 15-8 victory.

Senior middle blocker Karin Edsall had a match high 51 assists and junior setter Marissa Woodcombe led the Bombers with 18 digs.

The Bombers will compete in the season’s second and final Empire 8 Crossover this weekend at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y.
