Women’s lacrosse wins regular season finale

The women’s lacrosse team trounced the University of Rochester 18–5 on the road in its regular season finale today, raising its overall record to 10–5, the best in five seasons. It was the Bombers’ first win against the Yellow Jackets since 2005.

The South Hill squad put the game way out of reach with runs of 5–0 and 10–0 to put the game way out of reach. Junior midfielder Katie Hurley led the scoring barrage with five goals, including three in the game’s first eight minutes. Freshman midfielder Tracy Rivas was second with four, giving her a total of 30 on the season. Rivas joined Hurley, sophomore attack Nicole Borisenok and senior attack Kylie McClure as the only Bombers to score 30 or more goals during the 2010 regular season.

Ithaca’s defense was 12–19 on clears and forced 17 Rochester turnovers.

Senior Courtney Dowell played 50 minutes in goal, making 10 saves. The win was her career-high ninth.

The Blue and Gold will begin Empire 8 postseason play at noon May 8 against fourth-seed Nazareth College at Carp Wood Field.
