Women’s Swimming and Diving: South Hill squad defeats three opponents

The women’s swimming and diving team increased its record to 8-0 this season despite placing first in only three events in yesterday’s tri-meet against Hartwick College, SUNY-Geneseo and Hamilton College at the Athletics and Events Center Pool.

The Bombers locked up eight second-place finishes and six third-place finishes, which allowed them to edge out their closest opponent, Hartwick, 160-140. The Blue and Gold also defeated SUNY-Geneseo and Hamilton College by scores of 174-126 and 196-106 respectively.

The South Hill squad opened up the meet winning the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:51.14. The relay team included juniors Carly Jones and Madi Sherry, sophomore Elizabeth Gawrys and freshman Kylie Bangs.

Jones came back to win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.16 and finished second in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:12.61.

Sophomore Korie Fackler continued her success on the board, winning the 3-meter dive with 222.45 points. She also finished second in the 1-meter dive with 217.90 points.

The South Hill squad returns to action Dec. 2 when it hosts the inaugural Ithaca Bomber Invitational at the Athletics and Events Center Pool.
