Women’s tennis: Squad extends winning Empire 8 cstreak to 56

The women’s tennis team defeated St. John Fisher College by a score of 8-1 today at Mendon Request Club in Rochester, N.Y. The Bombers extended their winning streak to 56 matches in a row against Empire 8 Conference opponents during regular season and postseason competition.

The Blue and Gold swept both matches in doubles. Sophomore Becky Guzzo and junior Allison Young won 8-2 at first singles. Senior captain Becky Campbell and freshman Carly Siegal won 8-6 at second doubles, and the third doubles team of junior Laurel Salladay and freshman Allison Vizgaitis earned the first point of the day with a 8-1 victory.

Siegal, Guzzo, Salladay, Vizgaitis and senior captain Kelsey Harness all won their singles matches.

The South Hill squad returns to action at 4:30 p.m. today, hosting Nazareth College at the Wheeler Tennis Courts.
