Wrestling: Blue and Gold measure up against Division I competition

The fourth-ranked wrestling team competed alongside five of the top 35 teams in Division I at the Body Bar Invitational yesterday at Cornell University.

Junior Jules Doliscar suffered his first defeats on the year, but made the quarterfinals in the 174-pound weight class. Doliscar pinned Cornell University junior Cody Hutcheson in his first bout before losing in a 5-4 decision to fourth-seeded junior Brendonn Johnson of Kent State University. Doliscar would win two more matches in the consolation bracket before losing to eventual third-place finisher, junior Mike Dessino of Bloomsburg University. Doliscar also improved his team-leading pins total to nine.

Senior Seth Ecker was seeded fourth in the 141-pound bracket and defeated SUNY-Buffalo freshman Dan Gormley before losing to Kent State sophomore Tyler Small in the quarterfinals. Ecker would beat Buffalo junior Chris Conti in the consolation round before Columbia University sophomore Matt Bystol eliminated him.

Junior Ricardo Gomez recorded a consolation win over Army freshman Hunter Wood.

The South Hill squad will return to action Dec. 3 when they compete at the York Invitational in York, Penn.
