Wrestling: Blue and Gold win invitational for third consecutive year

The fourth-ranked wrestling team won the New Standard Corporation Invitational at York College for the third year in a row, as eight wrestlers placed in their respective weight classes yesterday.

Junior Jules Doliscar and senior Matt Mahon won the 174-pound and heavyweight classes respectively.

Doliscar entered the tournament as the top seed and easily won with three pins and a major decision in his four matches. He pinned Johnson and Wales University junior Colin Lenhardt in just 50 seconds raising his overall regular season record to 16–2 and his pins total to a team-leading 12.

Mahon recorded two pins in his first two matches before taking down Elizabethtown College freshman Jeremy Rieth 3-1 in the semifinals and defeating York College senior George Saliba 13-0.

The Bombers won the team title with 107 points. SUNY-Brockport finished second with 87.5 points, while The College of New Jersey and host York finished tied for third with 85.5 points.

The Blue and Gold will have their first Eastern Collegiate Wrestling Conference meet Wednesday when they compete at Rochester Institute of Technology.
