Currently, there are no definite plans for the proposed ceremony and any developments will be known after the Class of 2020 shares their level of interest. Some students have expressed that they have moved on from their time at the college and are no longer interested in having a ceremony after three years.

College offers Class of 2020 an in-person commencement

Ithaca College has sent out a survey to the Class of 2020 graduates to gauge their interest in having an in-person commencement ceremony in May 2023.
Samm Swarts, assistant director of Emergency Preparedness and Response, also spoke about the issue of COVID-19 on campus. Student adherence to policies surrounding COVID-19 has kept infection rates very low, Swarts said, and because of a 99% vaccination rate for students on campus, there is no evidence of virus transmission in classroom settings.

College discusses Family Weekend and commencement at gathering

The college discussed COVID-19 booster shots, Family Weekend, commencement and class registration at the All Student and Family Virtual Gathering Oct. 26. 
The Class of 2021 Commencement ceremony will occur May 23 for undergraduates and at 4 p.m. May 21 for graduate students. Both ceremonies will take place in the Glazer Arena at the Athletics and Events Center.

Class of 2020 reacts to Commencement ceremony cancellation

President Shirley M. Collado made the announcement June 8 that the in-person 125th Commencement ceremony had been canceled.
In a March 25 announcement, the college stated that the Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2021 will be held May 21 for graduate students and May 23 for undergraduates in the Glazer Arena at the Athletics and Events Center.

Ithaca College cancels on-campus Commencement ceremony

The ceremony was scheduled to take place May 17, but after transitioning to remote learning March 17, the ceremony was postponed until Aug. 2.
