As the graduates turned their tassels from the right to the left, and as blue and white confetti shot up into the air, the Class of 2022’s journey at Ithaca College came to a close.

Students cheerfully donned blue and white caps and gowns in celebration after a long academic year alongside family, faculty and staff for the Class of 2022 Commencement Ceremonies.
Members of Faculty Council were able to share their concerns and questions about the changes made to their dental plan that was enacted this year, elected the executive committee and held an executive session for about an hour at its final meeting of the semester. Both the 2021–22 and 2022–23 faculty council members were present for the meeting. 

Faculty Council discusses Fall 2022 plans and confers degrees

The Faculty Council discussed changes for the 2022–23 academic year, conferred degrees and spoke with President La Jerne Cornish at its May 3 meeting.
The 2022 Commencement will be held indoors at Glazer Arena in the Athletics and Events Center and guests will be allowed to attend the ceremony in person for the first time since 2019. Commencement organizers hope to offer an event with little-to-no COVID-19 restrictions in place and encourage guests to take precautions as they see fit. 

Seniors react to planned COVID-19 measures for Commencement

Some members of the Class of 2022 have expressed their thoughts on the lack of COVID-19 measures in place for this year's Commencement ceremonies.
In an email sent to the campus community April 25, Rosanna Ferro, former vice president for Student Affairs and Campus Life, reminded students to act with caution and care when celebrating to ensure the health and safety of the community. One celebration, Kendall Day, is a tradition started in 2008 by students.

Kendall Day celebration proceeds despite COVID-19 risk

The college is encouraging Ithaca College students looking to celebrate the end of classes to celebrate responsibly because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The college also announced that Jeff White ’98 visual effects supervisor and creative director for the Vancouver studio of Industrial Light and Magic, and Amy Goodman, founder of Democracy Now!, will receive honorary Doctor of Letters degrees. Senior Leticia Guibunda will be the student speaker.

IC announces speakers for the 2022 Commencement ceremony

IC has announced that Sheila Katz ’05, CEO of the National Council of Jewish Women, will give the main address at the 2022 Commencement ceremony.
Ithaca College will hold two in-person commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2022 on May 22, 2022. Commencement for the Class of 2021 was held in person in the A&E Center on May 23. Students were allowed to walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, however, guests were not permitted.
