Q&A: Associate Professor professes the positives of stress

John Vongas is an associate professor in the School of Business at Ithaca College. He was able to lend his expertise to help research stress-work relationships and assisted in writing the paper “The Essential Impact of Stress Appraisals on Work Engagement.”
A study from Preply ranked the City of Ithaca as the 10th most stressed-out college town after analyzing tweets from students in different college towns in the United States. However, some students like senior Justin Foster and staff at Ithaca College wonder if it is accurate in detecting students’ stress levels.

A study ranked the City of Ithaca as the 10th most stressed-out college town after analyzing tweets from students. However, some students and staff at Ithaca College question its accuracy.
Junior Sean Fiske encourages students who aren’t involved with the arts to consider visiting the Makerspace. He believes that students need creative outlets and that the arts help with mental health and academic stress.
