Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado discussed the strategic plan and financial health at the All-College Gathering Aug. 29 in Emerson Suites.
The article, “Dawn Of The Dead: For Hundreds Of The Nation’s Private Colleges, It’s Merge or Perish,” was written by Matt Schifrin, vice president and assistant managing editor for Forbes Media, and Forbes reporter Carter Coudriet. Published Nov. 27, the article graded the financial condition of all private, nonprofit colleges in the United States with enrollments over 500 students.

College makes budget cuts due to lower projected enrollment

Departments across the college were asked to cut their budgets in order to reallocate their funds to balance the budget for the 2019–20 fiscal year.
According to Second Nature, the organization the college reports its carbon data to, the college emitted a total gross of 23,673 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e) in 2017.

College’s carbon footprint projected to decline 45 percent

At the All-College Gathering on Aug. 23, Ithaca College President Shirley M. Collado announced that the college’s carbon footprint is projected to drop by 45 percent this academic year. This decrease in overall carbon output is part of the college’s previous pledge to be completely carbon neutral by the year 2050.
