Students in the theories and art practice seminar had the opportunity to participate in an art exhibition titled “Several Utilitarian Chambers.”
The Ithaca Arthaus is an affordable housing apartment building for artists currently under construction at 130 Cherry St. The ground floor will feature an art gallery.
Cups of paint and collections of work consume the floors and walls of the South Hill Business Campus’ Creative Space Gallery as students put the finishing touches on their final art projects of their undergraduate studies.
“You have to be self-motivated for the work you do. We’re so used to getting deadlines and guidelines, and to get away from that was a challenge.”
The Handwerker Gallery’s first exhibit of the 2016–17 academic year, “Sun Flare,” which opened Aug. 31 and will remain open until Oct. 12.
Approximately one year after the Creative Space Gallery opened its doors May 1, 2015, it will be closing after its final exhibit, “BANG!,” which ends May 15.

Ithaca College’s Handwerker Gallery has been transformed into a sensory overload of color, texture and music for its latest exhibition titled “Starting From Scratch.”
The Creative Space Gallery was made possible by a gift from an alum who specifically wanted the money to go towards a permanent gallery for the art department.
