Ithaca College will be offering its first major in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity (CSCRE) to be available in Fall 2021.
In pursuing the adaptation of a new major program in CSCRE, the college is exemplifying the dedication of its funds to bettering student education.
On Feb. 6, Ithaca College students and faculty filled Clark Lounge as they discussed, questioned and worked to develop the CSCRE major.
Even though the emphasis on transparency and collaboration is admirable, the strategic plan is still a big mystery.
Luca Maurer, director LGBT Education, Outreach & Services Center, gave a presentation Feb. 6 which discussed the role of intersectionality in activism.
“It’s a lot easier to be against something when the rest of the world is against you,” Malcolm said.
Dunning-Lozano said she hopes the findings she revealed make people uncomfortable and encourage them to rethink the disciplinary policies for youth.
“The mobilization created an environment to do this work and made it more obvious that we should do the work,” she said.
Just four questions were asked during the Q&A portion of a diversity and inclusion panel held Sept. 13. Among them was an anonymously submitted question about how the administration would continue to prioritize these initiatives amid high administrative turnover.
Meaningful engagement with the diverse community that surrounds Ithaca College could be one way that the college enhances the education of its students.
In meetings held the week of Feb. 8, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees met to discussed the selection of a new president, efforts to further the initiative of developing a new shared governance system at the college and measures to improve diversity and inclusion.
