Broadway loves YouTube

By Aaron Edwards September 12, 2010
Occasionally — well, more than occasionally — I like to take a trip back to yesteryear and watch old Tony Award acceptance speeches and performances. These little stints of YouTube surfing usually start with me remembering some amazing performance by one of my favorite actors and just dying to listen or watch it.

‘Glee’: Back in two weeks!

By Aaron Edwards September 10, 2010
Season 2 of "Glee" will kick off Sept. 21. That's just 12 days from today. 12 long, painstaking, withdrawal-filled days. So, in light of the new season, I would like to offer a short list of suggestions for the writers — aspects of the show that I, as an avid, self-proclaimed "gleek," hope more than…

500 Million Friends, One Movie

By Aaron Edwards September 7, 2010
Mark Zuckerberg is angry. And for all the right reasons. With the release of "The Social Network," a film about Zuckerberg's rise to power and accomplishment as the founder of Facebook, looming just around the corner (Oct. 1), it's becoming more and more imminent that the media mogul and his company aren't too happy with…

Don’t call my name, Bill Compton

By Aaron Edwards September 2, 2010
"True Blood" Season 3 Finale? What? Did anything even happen? If you're a "True Blood" fanatic, then maybe those thoughts have been swirling through your head this week ... because they sure were in mine. After 11 episodes in Season 3 of the HBO series, I'm left trying to piece together a series of half-lived…

See you soon….

By Aaron Edwards August 8, 2010
Did you miss me? I’ll be back on the blogging radar in early September when the new semester at Ithaca College gets rolling, so stay tuned for the latest! In the meantime, shoot me a comment, tweet me or message me with your summer stories and…all that jazz. I know…this whole summer I’ve been like…

Instant Ramin!

By Aaron Edwards May 12, 2010
I guess Newsweek had to get some attention and sales from somewhere. But man, they must have not been expecting this. Newsweek recently published an article by Ramin Setoodeh outlining what the writer saw as a major “pink elephant in the room” in today’s television, film and Broadway: gay actors playing straight roles don’t mix.…

Stay Golden, SNL

By Aaron Edwards May 9, 2010
Last night’s episode of SNL was the best I’ve seen all year. No doubt due to extensive planning once “Golden Girls” star Betty White was slated to host the show, the evening was full of amazing skits and relevant topical commentary (something the newer casts of SNL are more known for). And the mix of…

Tony Award Nominations: Sign of an “Eh” Year?

By Aaron Edwards May 4, 2010
The nominations for the 2010 Tony Awards came out today, highlighting the best of Broadway in the past theater season. With that setup, you’d think there’d be enough weight in the quality of the season to truly live up to the best that Broadway has to offer. I haven’t seen many of the shows on…

Come On Down to ‘Car Horns And More!’

By Aaron Edwards May 2, 2010
When comedian Jenny Slate joined the cast of SNL last year, I was a bit skeptical. I had only seen her on random commentary sections of VH1’s “I Love The 70s” and hadn’t heard much of her standup comedy (though she’s quite the hit in the Brooklyn late-night comedy scene). Now, Slate has proven herself…

Some Shows For You

By Aaron Edwards April 29, 2010
I’m seeing some theater this weekend and reviewing it as well. Stop on by a few shows, too! You know the drill… Much Ado About Nothing, (IC Theater) Candide (Melodramatics @ Cornell University) The Government Inspector (Cornell University)

Are You a Belieber?

By Aaron Edwards April 26, 2010
Well, I’m not. Well, maybe a little. Partially. I hate to admit it, but I just can’t get enough of that kid! I find myself humming “Baby” while at work and crying when I think about him. Not really on that last part, but I had you fooled didn’t I? Let’s look at the big…

Madonna with a Side of Sue

By Aaron Edwards April 22, 2010
Tuesday's episode of "Glee" was probably one of the best I've seen all season. They definitely pulled it out and produced a visually stunning, hilarious, catchy episode that trumped the first returning episode by leaps and bounds. And their rendition of "Like a Virgin" was so seamless and tastefully done that I couldn't help but…
