Hammond Health Center adds offices for new CAPS counselors

Two new offices were added in the Hammond Health Center to create space for new CAPS counselors. The search for these counselors is still underway.
CAPS counselors see 17 to 18 percent of the student population, and in November 2016 there was a 15 percent increase in demand for counseling services, as previously reported by The Ithacan.

Rosanna Ferro, the current associate dean at Williams College, was directly appointed to the position of vice president of student affairs by President Shirley M. Collado without a formal search.

Faculty Council presents plan to improve student retention

The Ithaca College Student Success Committee presented a plan to the Faculty Council on March 7 on how the college can better improve retention rates.
There is not a collegewide policy that mandates professors to include mental health statements on syllabi. However, most schools at Ithaca College recommend their professors to provide these statements for students on syllabi, according to the deans of each school.
