Editorial: Housing decisions must account for student needs

Ithaca College prides itself on being a residential college. However, this translates to students being required to live on campus for at least three years before moving off campus. While in an ideal world, this may result in fostering community, the realities of on-campus housing are less than ideal.
President La Jerne Cornish said in an announcement that this temporary child care partnership with the Coddington Road Community Center’s preschool and afterschool programs could be a trial for more permanent on-campus child care.

Starting July 2023, the College Circle Apartments Community Building may be an annex for the Coddington Road Community Center’s preschool and afterschool programs.

Public Safety officers knocked on the doors of Circle Apartments on Dec. 6 to  inform residents about the burglaries and ensure that they have locked their doors.

Student burglar suspect posts bail and awaits trial

The Ithaca College student who was arrested and charged for the Nov. 23 burglary of Circle Apartment 341 is currently at home following a hospitalization for mental health reasons.
The Office of Public Safety is currently investigating an attempted burglary in Circle Apartment 180. This is the latest incident in a series of burglaries.

An unknown person entered Circle Apartment 180 at Ithaca College and demanded property from a resident Dec. 5.
The Ithaca College Environmentalists call for the college to commit to sustainability, such as by  encouraging students to compost and having faculty incorporate sustainability in curriculums.
