Men’s lacrosse team hoping to make a splash in tough conference

In a stacked Liberty League conference, the Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team is looking to establish itself as a top team in the league.
Freshman Caitlin Pellegrino performs during the floor exercise event at the Rumble and Tumble meet Feb. 16 at the SUNY Cortland Corey Gymnasium. On the floor event, Pellegrino scored a 9.525, just .025 behind team leader Skye Cohen. The Red Dragons won the floor event, but the Bombers prevailed in the bars, beam and vault.

Ithaca community welcomes Afghan refugees to Cornell

Diana Ayubi arrived in Ithaca months after escaping Afghanistan as the Taliban gained control of the country.
The college implemented its updated spectator policy Jan. 12, allowing only students, faculty and staff members to attend competitions until the situation is further evaluated Feb. 7.

Updated spectator policy prohibits fans outside IC community

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, spectators outside of the Ithaca College community will not be allowed to attend athletic events until at least Feb. 7.  
La Jerne Cornish, interim president of Ithaca College, said she wanted to focus on three words for the 2021–22 academic year: intentionality, connection and care. She also said she wanted to hear what members of the SGC had to say and what they wanted to discuss.

SGC discusses mental health, emergency notifications and the APP

Kathleen Mulligan, professor in the Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts, recently hosted a workshop called “Putting Your Best Voice Forward” at Cornell University.
In reaction to four reports of drug-laced drinks and one report of sexual assault at events hosted by Cornell University fraternities, Cornell has suspended all fraternity parties and social events. The Ithaca Police Department and the Cornell University Police Department are currently investigating both reports.  

Bomb threat at Cornell University found not credible

Local police determined that Nov. 7 a bomb threat at Cornell University was not credible.
As of 8:50 p.m. Nov. 9, law enforcement officials believe that the third suspect is no longer in the Cayuga Heights area. According to a press release, the original report of gunfire at 1:23 p.m. is believed to be between two groups of people, and law enforcement does not believe the third suspect poses an immediate threat to the community. His whereabouts and identity are still being investigated.

After multiple shelter-in-place orders at Cornell University and other local schools during the afternoon Nov. 9, local police have apprehended two out of three suspects.
Cornell University Police received a call of bombs being placed in Law School, Goldwin Smith, Upson Hall and Kennedy Hall at 2:12 p.m.

Club on campus guides students interested in veterinary school

The IC Pre-Vet Society was originally formed in 2015, but was reinstated for the fall semester under an entirely new executive board.
Zillah Eisenstein, professor emerita in the Department of Politics at Ithaca College, was one of the speakers at the rally and talked about the importance of not only keeping abortions legal, but also making them accessible.
