In 2013, some educators feared massive open online courses would eliminate the need for the traditional residential college experience, with free classes that anyone could access. However, they have not gained as much traction as originally expected.
The number of Ithaca College students entering college with transfer credits from high school is increasing. With these credits, some students have the ability to graduate early, but many still choose to utilize their four years.
As the second year of the Integrative Core Curriculum winds down, the Committee for College-wide Requirements is evaluating the number of courses offered in the ICC based on student need and response to courses currently offered.
The two main topics discussed at the March 4 Faculty Council meeting were a proposal to revise the process of changing a student’s grade and the faculty assessment and perception of the Integrative Core Curriculum.
