The college has completely relied on volunteers to stock and manage The Pantry since it first opened Feb. 21. The Pantry is an on-campus food pantry.
She said that despite the idea that the student body is of a predominantly wealthier demographic, there is still a population of students that might not have the financial means to buy extra food.
“We continue to work to build it beyond that now and to strengthen the annual fund through alumni support, parent support and support from friends of the college,” Biehn said.
On Black Friday and Cyber Monday, hundreds of delivery packages lined the Phillips Hall Post Office, where workers struggled to keep up with the haul.
Faculty Council has decided to create a task force to gather more information after a group of part-time faculty spoke to the council about issues with negotiating their union contract with the Ithaca College administration.
Several Ithaca College administrators visited the Feb. 3 Faculty Council meeting to discuss creating a faculty committee to help raise money for the college’s strategic plan, IC 20/20, and a pending policy regarding usage of course packs in classes.
