News Editor Syd Pierre sat down with Amy Falkner, dean of the Park School of Communications to discuss her transition to IC and her future goals.
Amy Falkner has been appointed as the new dean of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications and will succeed Jack Powers, professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, who has been serving as interim dean of the Park School since 2020.

Amy Falkner has been appointed as the new dean of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications and will begin her new position at the college Aug. 1, 2022.

Park school holds open sessions to introduce dean candidates

Faculty, staff and students attended sessions between May 2 and 5 to meet the final candidates for dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
The additional recommendations include: Create a streamlined undergraduate application process, increase flexibility of the curriculum, make the faculty workload more equitable, revise and implement the course schedule, establish centralized management of graduate programs and reevaluate course caps.

Diane Gayeski, Dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications and Karl Paulneck, Dean of the Music School will both step down from their positions at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Final candidates for dean searches to be on campus in March

Final candidates for the next deans of the Ithaca College Roy H. Park School of Communications and the School of Music are to be on campus in March.
La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, announced that Karl Paulnack, dean of the School of Music, and Diane Gayeski, dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, will be leaving their positions at the end of the 2019–20 academic year.

College begins national searches for new deans
