Men’s track and field gears up for rebound season

Finish times for the Ithaca College men’s track and field team fell hard last season — its lowest results in former head coach Jim Nichols’ history of coaching the team. Looking ahead to the season, senior pole vaulter Shaun Herlihy said the team is out for vengeance.

Once a dominant force in pole vault for Ithaca College, national champion Dominic Mikula ’24 has returned to campus to begin his coaching journey, mentoring the student-athletes following in his footsteps.
Senior pole vaulter Brendan Sheehan has stood out in the 2023-2024 indoor men's track and field season. Sheehan qualified for the 2024 NCAA indoor championship even with a stress fracture to the hook of the hamate bone.

The Ithaca College men’s track and field team is readying itself for the outdoor track season following a 2023 season where the Bombers sent three runners to the NCAA outdoor track and field championships.
Graduate student pole vaulter Dom Mikula is heading into his sixth year competing in college. Because of eligibility loopholes, he will be able to compete in the winter and spring seasons.

The Ithaca College men's track and field team is aiming to win its third straight Liberty League championship this season.
Freshman Meghan Matheny began working with pole vault assistant coach Matt Scheffler in eighth grade and continued to train with him through high school. She decided to attend Ithaca College largely so that Scheffler would remain her coach.
