Since 2019, Ithaca College has received First-Generation Forward status from NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. It is essential that Ithaca College support first-generation students and foster their ability to find community at the college. 
Around 100 members of the campus community attended the gathering in Emerson Suites, where President La Jerne Cornish spoke about how the 2022–23 academic year has been progressing so far.  Cornish thanked the campus community for their work during the first half of the fall semester.
