The Center for First-Generation Student Success, an organization that works to advance the success of first-generation students, confirmed that Ithaca College has maintained its status as a first-generation forward institution for the 2023–24 academic year. The first-generation honors society, Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha), also conducted its first elections at the college Sept. 7.
The event, held Feb. 14, was part of the Difficult Dialogues: Cultivating Cultures of Belonging Symposium — an event created to facilitate discussion of complex and controversial subjects by bringing guest speakers to campus to address challenging subjects.

Karen Collias founded the organization Knowledge Without Borders in 2009 to help more first-generation students study abroad.
The First-Generation Student Group was created by several Ithaca College students and became recognized by the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs this semester.
