Ithaca College sophomore Alexa Chalnick has approximately 592,200 followers on the short-video app TikTok after posting songwriting challenges for other creators to duet. Chalnick’s #SingForAlexaSaturday, a weekly educational and performance workshop that features musical theater industry professionals, gives her TikTok followers a space to perform their favorite musical theater pieces as well as to meet professional actors.
